Afrijet takes the plunge and introduces Cabinstream at Aircraft Interiors Expo

The first day of the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg saw Gabon-based carrier Afrijet announced as the launch customer of ATR’s latest cabin solution. Developed in coordination with New Zealand supplier Phitek, Cabinstream allows passengers to enhance their onboard experience by accessing a variety of multimedia content on their personal electronic devices, such as newspapers, music, films, TV series and even downloadable travel guides. Representing a simple IFE box solution that is simple to install, Cabinstream is an option on all new ATRs and easily retrofittable on existing aircraft. Afrijet will introduce the system into its fleet of ATRs before the end of 2018.
This is a further example of how ATR’s culture of continuous development has real and tangible benefits for both passengers and operators. A high-tech solution for the ATR cabin, passengers can enjoy an improved onboad experience while operators can profit from additional revenue opportunities, such as new advertising space, that Cabinstream will offer. Aircraft Interiors Expo is the world’s leading event for airlines and the supply chain to source the latest innovations, technologies and products for the cabin interiors, inflight entertainment and passenger comfort industries. The Expo also saw ATR display our new “Neo Classic” and “Neo Prestige” passenger seats, by Geven, which will become standard on new ATRs this year. With a width of 18 inches, these will allow our operators to offer their passengers the widest and most comfortable seats in regional aviation.
