1,500 ATR Fuselages Already!

ATR was in the spotlight on Wednesday, June 6 at the Leonardo plant in Pomigliano d’Arco, Italy. That day marked the delivery ceremony of the 1,500th ATR fuselage, attended by Leonardo’s top executives, the Chief Executive Officer of ATR and representatives from institutions in the Campania region.

On the occasion of the handover of this fuselage, Christian Scherer emphasized the key role played by Leonardo in the success of ATR since the beginning of the program. He also pointed out that this 1,500th fuselage would be used to build the very first ATR 72 that will fly to Japan, a country that considers quality and excellence to be of the highest value. ATR and its shareholders can be proud of this achievement.

Alessandro Profumo, Chief Executive Officer of Leonardo, was delighted by the fact that an ATR takes off or lands somewhere in the world every eight seconds. He also highlighted the huge success of the aircraft that accounts for three-quarters of sales in the turboprop market and equips the fleets of nearly 200 operators. With a production that has doubled in the last decade and a robust order book for the next three years, the ATR program has emerged as a major asset for the aeronautics industry in Italy.
