ATR receives the highest distinction at the Ecomobility Awards
The Ecomobility Trophies event, organised by Tisséo Collectivités, in partnership with Toulouse Métropole and La Tribune. These awards aim to highlight companies that have put in place transport plans considered exemplary in terms of sustainable development. There were over 170 candidate companies for this seventh event.
Following this award, Frédéric Torrea, ATR Corporate Secretary, stated “We are very happy to receive this award, which recognises the efforts made by ATR. The improvement of intercompany transportation involves a coordinated approach from our departments, and these positive results have been made possible by virtue of the commitment and involvement of all ATR employees.” He also added, “ATR aircraft are the most fuel-efficient aircraft in their class, with 5,000 metric tons of CO2 saved per year per aircraft, compared to regional jets. We are continuously working to improve the environmental performance of our aircraft. This is part of ATR’s DNA, and it is for this reason that we invest in our environmental approach beyond our aircraft, to include our daily activities and forms of transportation. ”
ATR strengthened its environmental ambitions in 2016 by reviewing its transport plan, with Gold award-winning results. The transport plan is a genuine economic, social and environmental initiative, designed to rise to the challenges of sustainable development and improve working conditions for employees. To reach its goals, ATR has introduced a set of measures for promoting environmentally friendly travel, such as a new fleet of electric company vehicles, and the installation of free-to-access electric charging points. The promotion of greener modes of transport such as cycling, public transport and even carpooling with the launch of the Karos app in 2018 for employees also form part of ATR’s transport plan.
In its desire to continuously reduce its environmental footprint, ATR regularly reviews its production processes and industrial equipment, in order to cut its carbon emissions by 30% on all of its sites by 2025. Furthermore ATR is also committed to the European COMMUTE project for promoting sustainable and environmentally responsible mobility within the Blagnac airport area.
ATR is the world number one regional aircraft manufacturer with its ATR 42 and 72 aircraft the best-selling aircraft in the less than 90-seat market segment. The unifying vision of the company’s employees is to help everyone, no matter where they are in the world, to connect and develop in a responsible manner. Thanks to the efficiency of turboprop technology and the benefits of the company’s focus on continuous innovation, ATR aircraft open more 140 new routes every year on average, burn 45% less fuel and emit 45% less CO2 than regional jets. For all of these reasons, ATR aircraft have been chosen by some 200 companies in 100 countries around the world. ATR is a joint-venture between Airbus and Leonardo.
